How our website design services work in 3 easy steps

Step 1. Local discovery and site planning

We plan before you commit. Your goals, customers, competitors and current website all get reviewed, then we show you what each page must do and how the whole site should work.

Step 2. Wireframes and visual design

Every key page is wireframed and written before any styling begins. We then design the site as a reusable system of components, built around the way your customers buy.

Step 3. Build, launch and local support

We build, test and launch your site, and you own every file. After launch, our Cairns team is a short drive away for updates, support and local SEO that keeps you showing up in Google Maps.

What makes our web design different?

Mindesigns

Custom designed in Figma before a line of code.

Keyword and search-intent mapping happens before the sitemap is drawn, so structure earns rankings from launch.

Built to pass Core Web Vitals on mobile, tested on real devices, not just Lighthouse.

Staging environment, version control and a documented handover with training video.

Other Agencies and Freelancers

Built on a purchased theme with the demo content swapped out.

No keyword or intent mapping, so the site launches invisible.

Just take orders and give no recommendations.

Core Web Vitals treated as an afterthought, if they're measured at all.

Handover is a login and a zip file.

Web design for Cairns businesses

Most Cairns businesses we speak to don’t have a design problem. They have a site that looks acceptable but doesn’t rank, doesn’t load quickly on mobile data, and doesn’t turn the visitors it does get into enquiries. Those are three separate problems, and a redesign that only addresses the first one leaves the other two in place.

We’re a Cairns-based agency working from Buchan Street in Westcourt, with clients including James Cook University, Preston Law and Cairns Taxis. Our team handles design, development, SEO and conversion optimisation in-house, so the decisions that affect rankings and enquiry rates get made during the build rather than bolted on afterwards.

Whether you’re starting from scratch or refreshing a site that’s stopped performing, the process always begins with understanding what your customers search for and what stops them from acting once they arrive.

FAQ Section

Our website projects start from $3,500. Where a project lands depends on page count, functionality and whether branding and copywriting are included. An online store, member logins, or CRM and booking integrations all add development time. Most of our mid-sized business clients invest between $5,000 and $15,000. We quote fixed price after a scoping call, so there is no hourly creep once the project is underway. Pricing is current as of 2026 and subject to change.

A straightforward website takes four to six weeks. Sites with custom functionality can run two to four months. Timelines depend on complexity, but the most common cause of delay is content. Waiting on copy, photography and feedback from your side is what usually stretches a project out. Clients who have content ready and one nominated decision maker consistently finish at the faster end of the range.

WordPress is our default and what we recommend for most Cairns businesses. You own the site outright, there is no platform licence fee, and your team can edit it without a developer. We build on Shopify when the business is primarily e-commerce, since it handles payments, inventory and shipping natively. We will tell you which one fits rather than pushing you toward whichever we would prefer to build.

Yes. We structure the WordPress editor so text, images, staff profiles and pages can be updated without touching code or breaking layouts, and you get a documented handover at launch. If you would rather not manage it yourself, we offer ongoing monthly support packages covering development, maintenance and design.

Often not. We audit the existing site first to establish what is working and what is holding it back. If the issues are design, layout or functionality, we can redesign it while keeping your content and domain authority intact. A full rebuild makes sense when the underlying structure or platform is the problem. We will tell you which situation you are in before you commit to either.

Every site we build is mobile optimised and tested on real phones and tablets, not just a resized browser window. That matters commercially in Cairns, where a large share of local search happens on a phone and often on mobile data rather than wifi. We test load performance under those conditions before launch.

A new site is built to rank, but ranking takes time and depends on how competitive your category is locally. What we control at build stage is keyword and search intent mapping before the sitemap is drawn, so page structure matches what people actually search for. We also build to pass Core Web Vitals on mobile and configure technical SEO, including schema, heading hierarchy, internal linking and indexation, before launch rather than retrofitting it afterwards. Competitive Cairns categories usually need ongoing SEO alongside a well built site.

Design decides what the site looks like and how someone moves through it, covering layout, hierarchy, colour, typography, and where the buttons sit and why. Development is the code that makes it work, covering templates, functionality, forms, integrations and performance. We handle both in house, which matters because the handoff between the two is where most projects lose quality.

Our in house team. Design is led by Sebastian Marin, Head of Design, with more than 15 years in brand, UX and web design for Australian brands. Development, hosting and integrations sit with Jeison Marroquin, Head of Information Technology, who manages infrastructure across more than 40 live sites. You can meet the team here.

Yes. We work with clients across Australia from our Cairns and Sydney offices, and the process runs comfortably remotely. Being based in Cairns means we understand the local market, including which categories are genuinely competitive here, how seasonality affects tourism and trades businesses, and what a Far North Queensland audience responds to. If you are local, you are welcome at our Westcourt office at 254 Buchan Street.

You get the site, full admin access and a documented handover. From there it is your call. Some clients run it themselves, others move onto maintenance and hosting with us or continue into SEO and paid ads. We do not hold your domain, hosting or code hostage regardless of what you decide.

Web design ideas and best practices

Did you know that web visitors form an opinion about your website in just 0.05 seconds? Before they read a headline, click a button, or even scroll, they have already decided whether your site is worth their time. That first impression shapes everything that follows, which is why using best-practice web design is critical.  But the best practices are not one-size-fits-all. Every visitor arrives with a specific...
